Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeff Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Harris!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones lands with a slapping head kick.


It looks like Chris Harris has been cut.
No luck for Harris with that takedown attempt.
Jones moves forwards but Harris connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Jones throws a body kick that misses.
A head kick misses from Jones.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jones, right into the meat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Harris has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jones is trying to break the clinch but Harris is controlling him.
Jones has had enough of the clinch but Harris keeps him there for the moment.
Jones wants to break free but Harris has control.
Harris trying to land knees to the body.
Jones tries to break the clinch but Harris is controlling the position.

Harris keeps control of Jones as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Harris avoids the head kick by Jones.
Harris closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jones circles away.
Jeff Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Harris.

and Harris holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Jones is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Jones tries to break free but Harris pushes him back against the cage.

Harris throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Harris off to one side.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Harris has managed to clinch.
Jones throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Harris blocks it with crossed arms.
Jones prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Harris obliges.
Jones can't break the clinch.

Harris manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Harris is pulling down on Jones's head to control his posture.

Jones drops back, looking for a kneebar! Harris looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Harris looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Harris!
Jones is trying to escape the position but Harris is controlling the position.

Harris is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Harris is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Chris Harris.
Harris throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Harris off to one side.
Jones throws a head kick but Harris moves out of range.

Harris moves into range and clinches up with Jones.

Harris is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jones gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Harris has Jones pushed against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Harris is looking to break free of the clinch but Jones has double underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Good leg kick by Jones there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Harris takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Harris moves out of range easily.

Harris closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Harris pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

so Harris counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Harris defends it easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Harris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Harris wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Harris manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Harris in his guard.
Harris postures up and lands a big shot to Jones's brow.
Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Harris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Harris tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Harris shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones defends it nicely.

Jones sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Harris to the ground! Jones dives into full mount looking to finish!
Harris is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jones thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Harris is looking to get to half guard.
Jones tries to control but Harris wriggling away.
Jones is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Harris can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


That has opened up Chris Harris's cut even more.
Harris takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Harris is now in Jones's guard. A big mistake from Jones there, giving up the dominant position!

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Harris can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jones is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Harris is aware though and is defending well.

Harris got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Harris has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted.
Harris controls from within his opponent's guard.

Harris wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jones lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Jones throws a head kick that half lands.


The cut above Chris Harris's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

and Harris counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jones's guard now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
