Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gilbert Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hernandez is trying to break the clinch but Richards has him pressed against the cage.
Hernandez tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Richards has hold of one of Hernandez's legs. Hernandez is fighting the takedown attempt but Richards gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Richards postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hernandez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Richards, into his guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Richards can do anything to dispel that myth.
Richards is not content to let Hernandez control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Richards is trying to buck Hernandez off.
Hernandez lands some shots froms side control.
Richards tries to improve position but can't.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hernandez wants to stand but Richards has his arm trapped.
Hernandez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Richards keeps working.

Richards is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hernandez connects with a decent elbow.
