PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boyan Cadell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Red (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cadell's entrance music is Run to the Hills. A fine choice. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Boyan Cadell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Damien Red!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cadell shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Red counter with a right hand.
Cadell fails with the takedown
and Red counters with a straight right hand.

Red is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cadell's half guard.
Cadell is staying active underneath Red, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Cadell pushes Red off but Red dives into side control.
Red throws an elbow but Cadell slips to the side and avoids it well.
Cadell wants to control but Red postures up.

Red is trying to get an arm triangle but Cadell is defending well.

Red stands up.

Cadell wants to clinch.
Red should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Red gets tackled into the ropes by Cadell. Cadell maintains the clinch.

Cadell manages to break the clinch.
Cadell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Red circles away quickly and effectively.

Red shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cadell is trying to defend but Red finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Red is thwarting Cadell's attempts to control the position.
Cadell scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Red manages to mount him!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Cadell is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Cadell is desperately trying to improve his position but Red has a good base and remains in mount.
Red connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Red working for a guillotine from mount but Cadell is in no mood to give up.
Red controlling the position easily from mount.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Red has eaten all the pies!
Red looking to control but Cadell is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Cadell bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Cadell won't allow Red to get back to his feet.
Cadell wanted to stand there but Red had control of the position.
Red not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Red isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cadell stacks Red on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cadell!
Red tries to buck Cadell off but Cadell is having none of it.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
You can see the frustration on Red's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Red manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cadell's best efforts.
Red tries to get to full guard but Cadell has control of the leg.
Cadell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Red keeps working.
Red is trying to stand back up but Cadell is controlling him
Cadell wants to stand up but Red is controlling the position.
Cadell prevents Red from standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damien Red dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Cadell is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cadell tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Red circles away from the clinch attempt.
Red looks to clinch

and Cadell counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cadell.
Cadell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Red is proving hard to escape from.
Red keeping moving, preventing Cadell from controlling successfully.
Cadell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Red escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cadell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Red is pulling down on Cadell's head. It's preventing any offense from Cadell, at least for the moment.

Red wants to stand up but Cadell is controlling him.
Cadell trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Red controlling the position.
Red keeping moving, preventing Cadell from controlling successfully.
Cadell not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Boyan Cadell has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Red feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Red advances position into side control!

Red trying to control the action but Cadell is working from the bottom.

Red thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Red decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cadell to his feet.

Red throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cadell was covering up waiting for the punch and Red finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Red is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Cadell trying to control the position.
Red wants to control from the top but Cadell keeps moving.
Red controlling from the top position.
Red postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Red passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Red remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Red wants to control but Cadell is keeping him busy.
Red lands a decent elbow from side control.
Cadell is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Red has just dragged him back down to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damien Red showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Cadell with a poor takedown

and Red counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Cadell has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Red is working away from the top position though.

Red looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Red thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cadell's head.
Cadell is trying to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cadell wants to control but Red is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Cadell regains full guard. Nicely done.
Cadell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Red on the ground.
Red missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Cadell wants to get back to his feet but Red is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Red not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Red throwing strikes from guard but Cadell blocks nicely.
Red slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Red is pushing down on Cadell's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cadell is fighting to maintain full guard but Red has managed to sneak the leg through.
Red throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Red content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Red winds up and cracks Cadell with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Red not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Red is working for a submission of some sort.
Red wants to pass to mount but Cadell is defending the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Red is trying to control the action in half guard but Cadell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Cadell regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Red.
Red wants to pass the guard but Cadell is keeping the position.
Boyan Cadell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cadell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Red lands a couple of decent looking shots.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Red with a flurry of punches that miss.
Red is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Red's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Red loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Red works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Cadell trying to hold on to Red's head to control him but Red postures up.
Red takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Red has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Damien Red is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Red is trying for a kimura here. Cadell looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Red wins by kimura!
