Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gray Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Wiet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis comes into the arena with DMX - Aint No Sunshine blaring out of the sound system. Wiet is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Mia - Paper Planes. Gray Davis is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Gray Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Wiet!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wiet tries to clinch
and Davis counters with a right hand to the body.
Wiet moves to clinch but Davis breaks away

and Davis counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Wiet!
Davis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Wiet is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Wiet and Davis has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Wiet stops Davis from passing to mount.

Davis wants to take a breather but Wiet manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Davis.
Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wiet swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wiet is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Davis jumps guard but Wiet stands there with Davis around his waist. Davis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Wiet escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Davis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Davis.

Wiet wants to get back to his feet but Davis is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Davis wants to control from the top but Wiet keeps moving.
Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wiet swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Wiet has his feet on Davis's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
A right-left combo lands from Wiet.
Wiet throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Davis counters with a shoot takedown. Wiet fights it but they end up in guard.
Davis trying to control the position from guard on top but Wiet is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Davis drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wiet dives on top into guard.
Davis manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Wiet is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Davis with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Wiet is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Wiet is squirming around, avoiding Davis's attempts to control the action.
Davis looking to control and managing it successfully.
Davis moves to his opponent's back but Wiet bucks him off and ends up in guard. A bit of a disaster there for Davis.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Wiet stands up from Davis's guard - Wiet perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Davis swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Wiet is now in Davis's guard. A big mistake from Davis there, giving up the dominant position!

Davis has a closed guard, preventing Wiet from standing up.
Davis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wiet tries to buck Davis off but he can't manage it.

Davis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wiet is looking to escape.

Davis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Gray Davis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wiet is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Davis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wiet is looking to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Davis is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wiet is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Gray Davis wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Davis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Davis tries to advance to mount but Wiet denies him.
Wiet is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Davis has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Wiet sneaks out the side door and pushes Davis away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Davis goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Wiet rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Davis's guard! Nice work there by Wiet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Wiet wants to stand but Davis has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Wiet stands up and we're back to a striking position.

and Davis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wiet won't be happy with that.

Wiet pushes Davis away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Davis gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Davis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gray Davis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Davis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
