PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Khan Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Lobe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Khan Singh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Lobe!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Singh takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Lobe avoids the head kick by Singh.
Singh looks to land a combination. Lobe sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Lobe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Singh was well out of range. Poor timing from Lobe.
Lobe lands with a good body shot.
Lobe just misses with a punch to the body.
Singh keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Singh throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Lobe counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Lobe is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Singh rather than just go for the knockout.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lobe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Lobe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Singh knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Lobe is pressing down on Singh's thigh, looking to free his foot. Singh is holding on for now.

Lobe is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Lobe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lobe postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Singh is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lobe, into his guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

What's Lobe going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Singh creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lobe sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Lobe passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Singh!

Lobe is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Singh is surviving well by controlling Lobe's body position as best he can.
Singh sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Lobe is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Singh defends it well.
Singh has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lobe is working away from the top position though.

Well Singh has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
