PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Kenyon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sal Pacino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenyon comes to the cage accompanied by The Illinois Enema Bandit. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Sal Pacino was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sal Pacino!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenyon fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kenyon tries to clinch up but Pacino circles away and keeps his distance.
Pacino tries to clinch up but Kenyon circles away and keeps his distance.
Sal Pacino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice jab there from Pacino.
Kenyon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
No luck for Pacino with that takedown attempt.
Pacino shoots in but Kenyon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kenyon tries to clinch but Pacino moves away

and Pacino counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pacino.
Pacino drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kenyon pulls his leg out and moves away.
Michael Kenyon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sal Pacino.
Kenyon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pacino's waist but Pacino gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kenyon off to one side.
Kenyon keeps the fight on the outside.

Pacino shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kenyon is looking for a sweep. Pacino is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kenyon is refusing to be controlled, as Pacino sits in half guard.
Kenyon is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pacino's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pacino's back!
Pacino prevents Kenyon from getting a body triangle.

Kenyon patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Kenyon is not going to allow Pacino to sit and survive in this position.
Kenyon has Pacino flattened out and is raining down punches.

Pacino is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Kenyon off. It looks like it's working - Kenyon slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Pacino displaying calm under pressure there.

Pacino perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kenyon works his way to full guard. Good work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pacino is looking to stand up but Kenyon won't let him.
Pacino wants to pass the guard but Kenyon is keeping the position.

Kenyon keeping moving, preventing Pacino from controlling successfully.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pacino keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kenyon's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pacino lands a couple of digs.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pacino has a takedown stuffed.
Pacino jabs Kenyon right on the nose. Kenyon blinks but takes it well.

Pacino has managed to clinch.
Pacino can't get the takedown.
Kenyon tries to pull guard but Pacino holds him up against the cage and eventually Kenyon drops back down to his feet.
A shot in the inside from Pacino.

Pacino manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Pacino is looking to stand up but Kenyon isn't so interested in that idea.

Kenyon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Pacino is looking for a triangle but Kenyon pushes his legs off easily.
Pacino keeping moving, preventing Kenyon from controlling successfully.
Pacino wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Pacino clinches but Kenyon breaks the clinch

and Kenyon counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Pacino lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Kenyon or not.

Pacino escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pacino is looking to clinch.
Pacino shoots in for a takedown but Kenyon shows good takedown defense.
Pacino scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sal Pacino dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
