Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Avelli.
Jones throws a leg kick which misses Avelli's front leg but catches the back leg as Avelli tries to avoid it.

and Avelli counters with a stiff right hand.

Both fighters circling a little - Jones finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Dummy Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Avelli moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Jones throws the left hand but Avelli avoids the punch easily.
Jones dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Avelli. That did some damage!
Jones will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Jones tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Avelli was well out of range. Poor timing from Jones.
A bone on bone clash there as Avelli blocks the leg kick.

Avelli shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Avelli keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Avelli counters with a three punch combo that has Jones backing up. Jones nods at Avelli to acknowledge the strikes.

Avelli is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Avelli walks forward, straight into a front kick from Jones.
Avelli tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The crowd cheers as Jones lands an impressive looking overhand right. Avelli doesn't seem phased though.

Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Avelli loads up on a big right hand but Jones slips the punch.

and Avelli counters with an outside leg kick.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Avelli circles away.
Jones buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Avelli avoids the head kick by Jones.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Avelli makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
A solid leg kick lands there for Jones.

Dummy Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Avelli takes a kick to the side of the head.
Jones lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Jones darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Avelli shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.

Jones scores with a spinning back kick!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Jones cracks the inside of Avelli's front leg.
Jones moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Avelli crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Jones - the referee stops the clock and Avelli gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Jones. Avelli manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Avelli takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Jones.
Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jones does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
A nice inside leg kick there by Jones. That's going to slow Avelli down.
Jones uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Jones cracks Avelli with a right hand to the side of the head.
No joy there for Jones, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Avelli counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jones's guard now.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Avelli is looking to stand up but Jones won't let him.
Dummy Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Avelli looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Avelli is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jones not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Avelli has his hands on Jones's head, controlling the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
