The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smits fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Smits has his takedown stuffed
and Oaks counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Smits shoots and misses
and Oaks counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Smits throws a predictable looking body shot
letting Oaks counter with a right hand.
Smits darts in trying to clinch
and Oaks counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Smits shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Oaks counters with a straight right hand.
Edward Oaks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Smits.
Smits tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Oaks cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Smits with a lazy takedown attempt
and Oaks counters with a nice uppercut.
Smits should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

A looping hook to the body misses from Oaks. Smits does a little dance to reset his feet.

It looks like Edward Oaks has been cut.

Smits bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Oaks is looking for a sweep.
Oaks regains half guard.
Oaks gets back to full guard.
Oaks wants to sweep but no luck.
Oaks is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Oaks works his foot free and advances to mount.
Smits looks gassed!
Oaks lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Smits hang on?

Oaks unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Smits wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Oaks celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
