PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chad Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Bisping (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Michael Bisping was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chad Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Bisping!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bisping closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bisping wants to control but Shaw is keeping him busy.
Bisping is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Shaw reverses the position - he's now on top in Bisping's guard.
Shaw wants to pass the guard but Bisping is keeping the position.

Bisping looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Shaw drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bisping manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shaw has Bisping in his guard.
Bisping would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Bisping wants to control from the top but Shaw keeps moving.
Bisping might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Shaw kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Bisping is stalling in the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Michael Bisping wasn't active enough on the ground.
Shaw looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Shaw shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bisping makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Shaw moves to clinch but Bisping breaks away
and Bisping counters with a body kick that stops Shaw in his tracks momentarily.

Shaw looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bisping is controlling Shaw's trapped leg to prevent Shaw from advancing to side control.

Shaw looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Shaw is looking for a kimura here.
Shaw is breathing heavily.

Bisping tries to get to full guard but Shaw has control of the leg.
Bisping is trying to control but can't.
Bisping is looking for a sweep. Shaw is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bisping wants to get back to his feet.
Bisping is trying to maintain the position but Shaw is very close to passing his half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Michael Bisping has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Shaw tries for a takedown but Bisping circles away easily
and Bisping counters with a head kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chad Shaw. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bisping pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Bisping closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shaw to the mat! Shaw manages to get full guard.
Bisping wants to stand and escape but instead Shaw has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Shaw stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bisping swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Shaw is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bisping is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bisping has escaped and now he's on top!

Shaw is working an open guard so Bisping takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Bisping dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Bisping shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bisping was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bisping lands a nice shot to the head.
Bisping looking to finish Shaw with some ground and pound. This is bad for Shaw!
Shaw takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Shaw on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shaw tries to get out of the position.
Shaw holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Bisping tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Shaw is in a horrible position here. Bisping smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bisping raining down hammerfists from mount.
Bisping lands a big shot there that rocks Shaw but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Bisping moves to the back position.
Bisping is looking to control Shaw but Shaw is wriggling around and keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bisping lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Bisping is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Shaw knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Shaw for a finish.
Bisping punishes Shaw with strikes from the back mount.

I would not like to be Shaw right now.

Bisping tries to get the hooks in deep but Shaw pushed the leg off.
Bisping lands shots from the back.
Bisping keeps control of the position easily here as Shaw tries to buck him off.

Michael Bisping showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Bisping looking to sit in guard and control but Shaw gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bisping is on top in guard.

Shaw looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Bisping wants to control from the top but Shaw keeps moving.

Bisping decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Shaw, up you get!

Bisping passes Shaw's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Bisping is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Shaw has managed to free his arm - good work.
Shaw might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bisping content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bisping trying to control from half guard but Shaw is working away.
Well, if Bisping is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Bisping stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Shaw to get to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bisping closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shaw to the mat! Shaw manages to get full guard.
Bisping is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Bisping stands up from Shaw's guard - Bisping perhaps looking for a knockout.

And that's the end of the fight!
Michael Bisping comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bisping has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
