PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kim Young Soo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robot Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Young Soo comes to the ring accompanied by A Countryboy can survive. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kim Young Soo!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Robot Joe!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young Soo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Young Soo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Joe pinned against the cage. Joe gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Young Soo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Young Soo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Young Soo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Joe's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Joe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Joe looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Young Soo tries to lock up and control but Joe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Joe wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Joe swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Young Soo is now in Joe's guard. A big mistake from Joe there, giving up the dominant position!

Joe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Young Soo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Young Soo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Joe is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Young Soo is looking to work some ground and pound but Joe has wrist control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Young Soo throws a head kick but Joe moves out of range.

Joe is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Young Soo's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Young Soo is looking for a kimura but Joe is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Young Soo to get the leverage.
Joe manages to get to full guard.
Young Soo won't allow Joe to sweep him here.

Joe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Young Soo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Young Soo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Young Soo stands up from Joe's guard - Young Soo perhaps looking for a knockout.
Joe takes a swing at Young Soo's ribcage but misses.

Young Soo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Young Soo lands in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kim Young Soo will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Joe drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Young Soo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Joe has Young Soo in his guard.

Joe had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Young Soo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Joe Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Young Soo's back instead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Young Soo is trying to break free.

Joe is hanging on to Young Soo's back as he tries to escape.

Joe is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Young Soo has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Joe tries to get the hooks in deep but Young Soo pushed the leg off.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
