The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapointe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Max but Max pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Max cracks Lapointe with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.

Max darts in and clinches Lapointe up against the ropes.

Max throws a right and a left that Lapointe avoids nicely.
Lapointe takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Lapointe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Max's waist but Max gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lapointe off to one side.
Max fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Max accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Lapointe has his foot on Max's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Max works his way back into a safe position though.
