PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jason Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willie Stroker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shamrock kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Smells Like Teen Spirit. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Shamrock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Willie Stroker!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stroker shoots in for a takedown but Shamrock shows good takedown defense.

Stroker shoots in and bounces Shamrock off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Stroker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Shamrock looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shamrock looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shamrock!
Stroker is not content to let Shamrock control the position.

Shamrock swings around for an armbar but Stroker sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Shamrock's guard.

Stroker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Stroker trying to control but Shamrock is working from the bottom.
Shamrock is trying to keep Stroker in close.

Shamrock uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Shamrock tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stroker paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Stroker counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Stroker working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Shamrock's head.

Shamrock has his foot on Stroker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stroker works his way back into a safe position though.
Stroker passes Shamrock's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stroker tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shamrock swivels and escapes.
Jason Shamrock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willie Stroker.
Shamrock wants to clinch

and Stroker counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Shamrock!
Shamrock is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Shamrock stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Stroker to get to his feet.

Shamrock fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stroker, pushing him back against the cage.
Stroker is trying to force a seperation but Shamrock has the dominant position.

Stroker is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Shamrock can't fight it off and eventually Stroker manages to take the fight to the floor. Shamrock looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Shamrock scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Shamrock advances to half guard.

Shamrock escapes and gets back to his feet.
Shamrock tries to clinch there but Stroker circles away.

Stroker has managed to clinch.

Shamrock is struggling to control the position.

Shamrock drags the fight down to the ground.
Stroker with a flurry of punches that miss.
Shamrock tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Stroker postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shamrock is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stroker, into his guard.
Stroker wants to sweep but no luck.

Shamrock wants to control from the top but Stroker keeps moving.
