PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maxx Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Tick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pain kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Days of Revenge by Ramallah. Tick has chosen The Tick theme song as his entrance music. The Tick has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maxx Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, The Tick!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pain shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tick's guard.

Pain is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Pain wants to pass the guard but Tick is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Tick controls Pain momentarily but Pain frees himself.
Pain looking to pass the guard.
Pain is working hard here to advance position.
Pain trying to control but Tick is working from the bottom.

Maxx Pain has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Tick scores with a jab to the body.

Pain looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Pain looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Pain is thwarting Tick's attempts to control the position.

Pain seems to be looking for submissions.
Pain prevents Tick from standing back up.
Pain not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Tick tries to roll over but Pain keeps him under control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tick is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Pain has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Pain is looking to take a break and control but Tick is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Tick's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Tick is looking to reverse the position.

Pain is trying to get an arm triangle but Tick is defending well.
Tick is looking to regain half guard here but Pain keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maxx Pain dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Pain throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Tick tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pain is in Tick's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Tick has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pain is working away from the top position though.
Tick looks like he's trying to stand up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Maxx Pain will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Pain feints and as Tick raises his hands in defense, Pain changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Tick lands with an uppercut that bounces Pain off the cage and back into rage.
Pain throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tick's waist but Tick gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pain off to one side.
Tick clobbers Pain with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Pain closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tick did well to prevent Pain getting side control.

Maxx Pain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Pain slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Pain has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Maxx Pain showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pain, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
