Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dirk Nowitzki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ragnarok Laturi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laturi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Amon Amarth - Guardians of Asgaard kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laturi throws a right hand that Nowitzki ducks under and follows up with a left that Nowitzki also avoids with ease.

A head kick from Laturi lands but Nowitzki takes it in his stride.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Laturi has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Nowitzki is trying to keep an underhook but Laturi manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Laturi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nowitzki with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Nowitzki has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Laturi is working away from the top position though.

Laturi is nestled in close to Nowitzki, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Laturi uses his free foot to push down on Nowitzki's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Nowitzki.
Laturi is landing with some decent strikes but Nowitzki is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Laturi cracks Nowitzki with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Laturi has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Nowitzki's face.
