Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phace Schmascher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Wax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wax has chosen Never Quit as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Phace Schmascher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charlie Wax!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid body kick from Wax.
Wax has a takedown stuffed.

Wax connects with a good right hand that stumbles Schmascher. Schmascher circles away out of range and recomposes himself.


It looks like Phace Schmascher has been cut.

Wax shoots in for a takedown but Schmascher shows good takedown defense.
Phace Schmascher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlie Wax.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Charlie Wax hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Schmascher stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Schmascher wants it to stay on the feet.

Wax lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Schmascher moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Phace Schmascher is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Schmascher misses with a hook. Wax ducked under it nicely.
Wax throws a right hand that misses
and Schmascher counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Wax moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Wax takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Schmascher seems to have got his legs back now.
Wax uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Schmascher.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wax is defended easily by Schmascher.

Charlie Wax seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Wax rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Schmascher moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Charlie Wax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wax's corner calls for a 1-2. Wax obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Schmascher on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Schmascher is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Schmascher displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wax.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Phace Schmascher will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Wax lands a really nice looking cross but Schmascher seems unphased.

Schmascher has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Schmascher there as he acknowledges the shot.


Phace Schmascher's cut is getting worse.
A punch combination from Wax misses.
Schmascher lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wax circles away quickly and effectively.
Wax closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Wax cracks Schmascher with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Schmascher checks a low kick from Wax.

Wax goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Schmascher goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Schmascher gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wax lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Wax takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Schmascher is looking to stand up but Wax isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Wax wants to control from the top but Schmascher keeps moving.
Schmascher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wax on the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wax accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Wax is stalling in the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Wax wants to control from the top but Schmascher keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Charlie Wax was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Schmascher looks to land a left hand but Wax moved out of range nicely.
Schmascher throws a body punch but Wax moves out of range.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Wax, right into the meat.
Wax ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Schmascher moves away.
Schmascher doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Wax misses with a few strikes there.

and Wax counters with a single leg into guard. Schmascher didn't expect that.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wax is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Charlie Wax comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wax has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
