PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michael Brookins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryu Nakamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brookins might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Good Morning - Kanye West. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brookins cracks Nakamura with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Nakamura uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Brookins.
A telegraphed right hand from Nakamura misses the target.
Brookins lands a jab to Nakamura's midsection.
Brookins's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Brookins duly obliges.
Michael Brookins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nakamura takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nakamura thuds a left hand into Brookins's body.

and Nakamura counters with a three punch combo that has Brookins backing up. Brookins nods at Nakamura to acknowledge the strikes.
Brookins takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Brookins throws a nice looking combination but Nakamura bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Nakamura tries to close the distance and clinch but Brookins swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Brookins counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Brookins falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Nakamura to counter with a crisp jab.
A jab lands there for Brookins.
Nakamura looks to land a right hand but Brookins moved out of range.
An inside leg kick from Brookins misses.
Nakamura fails with the takedown.
Brookins connects with a body shot that sends Nakamura's belly button to the back.
Nakamura looks gassed!
Nakamura on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Brookins tried to score with a low kick but Nakamura checks it.
Nakamura takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brookins scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Nakamura doesn't seem bothered though.

Nice combo by Brookins! Oh, that's hurt him - Nakamura falls to the canvas and Brookins follows him into side control.

It looks like Ryu Nakamura has been cut.
Brookins connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Nakamura some visible discomfort.
Nakamura is still in real trouble! Can Brookins finish him?

Nakamura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brookins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Brookins decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nakamura to his feet.

Brookins connects with a stiff jab that staggers Nakamura - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
