The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mikhailov connects with the punch.

It looks like Robert Smith has been cut.

Smith clinches.
Mikhailov has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Smith is trying to drag Mikhailov to the mat but Mikhailov just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Smith keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mikhailov's efforts to push away.

Mikhailov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mikhailov misses with a combination

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Smith prevents Mikhailov from getting back to his feet.
Smith wants to get up but he can't break Mikhailov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Mikhailov is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Mikhailov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mikhailov swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Smith counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mikhailov thinking.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith avoids the head kick by Mikhailov.
Mikhailov throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Mikhailov throws a half hearted mid kick.

and Smith counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Mikhailov is breathing heavily.
Smith shoots for a takedown but Mikhailov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mikhailov throws a combination that misses

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch.
Mikhailov prevents a takedown attempt there.
Alek Mikhailov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Smith.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Smith tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mikhailov avoids it really well and circles away.
Mikhailov misses with a right hand
and Smith cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Smith lands a left and a right that send Mikhailov crashing to the mat, dazed. Smith thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Mikhailov is rocked!
Smith fails with the takedown.
Oh Mikhailov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
It's a brutal combination of punches from Smith! Mikhailov is backing up but he can't get away as Smith lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Mikhailov and ends the fight. Great knockout.
