PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Moon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Alonso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Moon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ned Alonso!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Alonso avoids it really well and circles away.
Moon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Moon wants to clinch.
Moon tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Moon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Alonso closes this distance looking for a takedown but Moon circles away.
Moon closes the distance but Alonso moves to the side

and Alonso counters with a single leg into guard. Moon didn't expect that.

Alonso thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Alonso postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Moon wants to sweep here but Alonso controlling him for the moment.

Alonso drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alonso jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moon tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Moon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Alonso advances position into side control!
Alonso in side control, throwing shots but Moon defends.

Alonso tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Moon tries to buck Alonso off but Alonso is having none of it.
Alonso has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The ground and pound from Alonso seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Alonso thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Moon is trying to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alonso throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Moon is breathing heavily.
Alonso working the ground and pound but Moon is defending the strikes.
Moon on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Moon tries to get out of the position.

Alonso has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Moon is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Alonso yanks on the arm and Moon is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Alonso.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ned Alonso!
