Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Battling Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence. Ryan comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Girlfriend kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Battling Bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jake Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Bob holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Ryan lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Bob.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ryan.
Bob throws a head punch that misses.
Ryan blocking some punches.
Ryan blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Ryan is leaning against Bob and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Ryan prevents a takedown attempt there.
A nice left hand lands by Ryan.
Ryan works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Nice body punch from Ryan.
Ryan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bob.
Ryan pushes Bob back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Battling Bob has been cut.

A short uppercut from Ryan.
Ryan lands a shot to the body.
Bob lands a hook that snaps the head of Ryan backwards.
Ryan digs a right hand into Bob's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Bob's gas tank.
Bob is trying to drag Ryan to the mat but Ryan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Battling Bob. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ryan lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Ryan lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Bob backwards.
Bob drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ryan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ryan throws a leg kick
and Bob counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ryan scoring well with a low kick there.
Ryan throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Bob counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ryan's guard now.

Bob throwing strikes but missing.
Bob trying to control the position from guard on top but Ryan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ryan controls Bob momentarily but Bob frees himself.
Ryan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Ryan is looking to sweep but instead, Bob has passed into half guard.
Bob not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bob is trying to control. Ryan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Bob sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ryan defending well though.
Bob takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bob scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Ryan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bob.
Bob is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Bob is trying to control. Ryan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Well, if Bob is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Battling Bob just wasn't active enough.
Bob misses with a lunging right hand
letting Ryan counter with a right hand.
Jake Ryan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ryan misses the jab.
Ryan throws a poor cross that misses
letting Bob counter with a right hand.
The fighters circling - Bob throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bob misses with a hook
and Ryan counters with a nice uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Ryan dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Battling Bob's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bob moves in looking to clinch but Ryan pushes him off.
Bob throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ryan counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Bob is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Ryan counters with a good, hard body kick but Bob shrugs it off.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A bone on bone clash there as Bob blocks the leg kick.
Ryan swings away with a leg kick that misses.
A clash of legs there as Bob blocks the low kick.

and Bob counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ryan won't be happy with that.
Bob wants to take a breather but Ryan manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Bob.

Bob postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Bob loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bob is pushing down on Ryan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ryan is fighting to maintain full guard but Bob has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bob frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Bob can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ryan is looking to escape.
Bob controlling the pace for now.
Ryan suckers Bob into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Ryan is now in Bob's guard!

Ryan preventing the sweep.
Bob has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ryan has passed into side control.
Bob is looking for a sweep.
Bob regains half guard.
Bob wants to get back to full guard but Ryan has passed into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bob sneaks back into half guard.
Bob wants to get back to full guard but Ryan has mounted him!
Bob manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Ryan performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ryan tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Ryan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Ryan fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Ryan loads up on a big right hand but Bob slips the punch.
Bob misses with a takedown attempt
and Ryan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Bob counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bob.
Bob looking to sit in guard and control but Ryan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bob is on top in guard.
Bob trying to control but Ryan is working from the bottom.
Ryan pulls Bob in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bob tries to free his leg and advance position but Ryan is retaining full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bob lands a couple of digs.
Ryan pulls Bob in close to prevent any damage.
Bob controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Ryan keeping moving, preventing Bob from controlling successfully.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Battling Bob has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Bob takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Bob looks to throw the jab but Ryan is out of range.
Ryan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bob.
Ryan lands a glancing blow to the side of Bob's head.

Ryan drives through and clinches with Bob against the cage.
Still in the clinch, Bob scores with a nice short uppercut.
Ryan swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Bob can't get the takedown.

Bob misses with a hook from the clinch.
Ryan lands a hook to the side of the head.
Bob swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Bob tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ryan stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Bob tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Ryan's elbow.

Battling Bob has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jake Ryan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Ryan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
