And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Floyd Mayweather Jr!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pineda swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Mayweather Jr counters with a right hand to the body.
Mayweather Jr misses with an uppercut
and Pineda connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mayweather Jr getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Pineda throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Mayweather Jr counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Pineda lands with an overhand left.
Mark Pineda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pineda connects with a looping right hand.
Pineda fails with a takedown attempt.
Mayweather Jr swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mayweather Jr bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Pineda's head.
Pineda fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pineda ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Mayweather Jr fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mayweather Jr takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Pineda gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Pineda shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mayweather Jr pinned against the cage. Mayweather Jr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Pineda. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Pineda counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Pineda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mayweather Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pineda is looking to work some ground and pound but Mayweather Jr has wrist control.

Mayweather Jr had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pineda defends it easily.
Pineda throws and elbow that misses. Mayweather Jr uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pineda's guard. Nice move by Mayweather Jr!
Pineda pulls Mayweather Jr in close to his closed guard and prevents Mayweather Jr from doing any damage or advancing position.

Mayweather Jr postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pineda is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mayweather Jr, into his guard.

Pineda passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The ground and pound from Pineda seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Pineda swings around for an armbar but Mayweather Jr sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pineda's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mayweather Jr won't allow Pineda to sweep him here.
Pineda pulls Mayweather Jr in close to prevent any damage.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Pineda closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Pineda dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

enabling Mayweather Jr to counter with a crisp jab.
Mayweather Jr leaves Pineda with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pineda shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mayweather Jr but Mayweather Jr pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Pineda throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mayweather Jr lands a glancing blow to the side of Pineda's head.
Pineda changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mayweather Jr tries to avoid it but Pineda manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mayweather Jr to the ground. Mayweather Jr escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Pineda. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pineda connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

and Pineda counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mayweather Jr!
Pineda wants to control the pace but Mayweather Jr is squirming around nicely.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pineda lands with some strikes.

Pineda moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mayweather Jr has worked his arm free - good work by Mayweather Jr!

Pineda lands a strong strike to the head of Mayweather Jr. That's dazed him! Pineda looking to finish here. Mayweather Jr is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Pineda lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Pineda!
