Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dale Bellido!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pauk Walker!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bellido tries to score a power double leg takedown but Walker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bellido somewhat.
Walker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A head kick by Walker misses

and Bellido counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Bellido not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Walker wants to get back to his feet but Bellido is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Walker working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bellido.

Walker wants to stand and escape but Bellido is having none of it.

Dale Bellido has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Pauk Walker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Bellido closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Walker to the mat! Walker manages to get full guard.

Bellido looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bellido throws a right hand that Walker ducks under and follows up with a left that Walker also avoids with ease.
Walker lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Dale Bellido has been cut.
Walker swinging wildly here.
Walker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Walker throws a right hand that Bellido ducks under and follows up with a left that Bellido also avoids with ease.

Pauk Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Walker misses with a lunging right hand

so Bellido counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Walker is wriggling around but Bellido manages to pass to half guard.

Walker is defending against the submission attempts here by Bellido.
Walker is breathing heavily.

Bellido is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Walker is just riding it out for now. Bellido eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bellido winds up and cracks Walker with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bellido connects with a nice short shot to Walker's temple.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bellido lands a nice short elbow.

Bellido throwing shots but Walker is blocking nicely.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Bellido is nestled in close to Walker, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Bellido thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bellido not doing much here.

Bellido escapes and gets back to his feet.

Bellido drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Bellido has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Walker is letting Bellido control him for a moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Walker tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Dale Bellido's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Walker misses with a left hand
and Bellido cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Bellido shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bellido not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Bellido content to control rather than advance.

Walker wants to get back to his feet.
Walker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bellido missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dale Bellido just wasn't active enough.
Walker misses with a combination
and Bellido makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Dale Bellido is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dale Bellido.

You can see the frustration on Walker's face as Bellido controls the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Walker can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bellido lands a big shot there that rocks Walker but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Bellido pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Well Bellido has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
