Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akio Hideyoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Severn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Severn has chosen Ja volim vatat muve as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akio Hideyoshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Severn!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hideyoshi takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Hideyoshi misses with a body kick.

Severn shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hideyoshi is trying to defend but Severn finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

It looks like Akio Hideyoshi has been cut.
Severn throws a chopping leg kick but Hideyoshi manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Hideyoshi feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Severn's calf.
Hideyoshi throws a front kick aimed at Severn's knee but Severn avoids it well.
Severn ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hideyoshi moves away.

Severn displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hideyoshi throws out the jab.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Severn is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hideyoshi.
Hideyoshi throws a sloppy head kick and Severn moves out of range easily.

Severn fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hideyoshi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Severn counters with a straight right hand.
Severn moves into range and connects with a jab.
Hideyoshi connects with the punch.
Severn connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Severn lands with a good body shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hideyoshi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Severn feints a jab promting Hideyoshi to slip. Severn then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hideyoshi slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Good leg kick by Hideyoshi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Ken Severn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Severn lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hideyoshi lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Severn has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Severn and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Severn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Severn jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hideyoshi is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hideyoshi and Severn has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Akio Hideyoshi.
Well Severn has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
