PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kamil Grabski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucio Magalhaes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucio Magalhaes told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kamil Grabski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lucio Magalhaes!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Grabski moves into the clinch.

Magalhaes goes for a takedown attempt but Grabski pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Grabski throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Magalhaes's head.
Grabski tries to close the distance and clinch up but Magalhaes swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Grabski is pressed up against the cage. Magalhaes has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Grabski down to the mat. Grabski avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Kamil Grabski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucio Magalhaes.
Magalhaes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Grabski but Grabski pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Magalhaes has Grabski pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Grabski manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Grabski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Grabski lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Grabski tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Magalhaes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Grabski counters with a low kick, right behind Magalhaes 's knee.

Grabski feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Magalhaes's calf.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Magalhaes has eaten all the pies!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Grabski stops a takedown attempt from Magalhaes.
Magalhaes tries to score a body lock takedown but Grabski shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

It looks like Lucio Magalhaes has been cut.
Grabski will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Magalhaes up against the cage.

Magalhaes can't get the takedown.

Grabski digs a right hand into Magalhaes's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Magalhaes's gas tank.

Grabski seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Magalhaes on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Grabski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Magalhaes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Grabski looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Magalhaes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Magalhaes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Magalhaes is working to tighten is grip on Grabski's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Grabski has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Magalhaes is really squeezing tight and eventually Grabski passes out! Magalhaes breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Lucio Magalhaes!
