Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Florent Menez!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menez tries to keep at a distance but Lai has taken the fight into the clinch.
Menez has had enough of the clinch but Lai keeps him there for the moment.
Lai with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Menez has Lai pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lai manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Menez on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Menez breaks from the clinch.
Menez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lai sprawls well initially but Menez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lai is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Menez pulls his head out easily.
Menez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lai is just riding it out for now. Menez eventually gives up the hold.
Lai gets back to full guard.
Menez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lai is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Menez, into his guard.

Lai has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Menez is adopting a defensive guard.
Menez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lai defends it easily.
Menez is looking to stand up but Lai isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Menez moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Lai has worked his arm free - good work by Lai!

Menez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Lai sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Menez is working for a submission of some sort.
Menez is working for a kimura but Lai is defending it quite comfortably.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lai has Menez pulled in close to control his posture.

Menez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lai dives on top into guard.

and Menez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lai's guard.

Menez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Menez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Menez drops back looking for a leg! Lai is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lai manages to kick Menez off! Menez jumps back into Lai's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Menez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Menez has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lai is proving hard to escape from.
