PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Leshley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leshley kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Step into a World. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Leshley closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into White's guard.
White wants to sweep here but Leshley controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leshley throws a big right hand that misses.
Leshley looking to pass the guard.

White is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

White is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Leshley working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of White's head.
White striking off his back but it's not causing Leshley any problems.
Leshley works over White with some ground and pound from guard.

White drops down looking for an ankle pick but Leshley pulls his leg out and moves away.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
White has his takedown stuffed

and Leshley counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in White's guard now.

Leshley gets to his feet. White looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Leshley throws a right and a left that both miss.

Leshley's corner is telling him to maintain position.

White manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Leshley manages to get himself to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
White stops Leshley from standing up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Leshley throws a right and a left that White avoids nicely.
Leshley cracks a nice hook into White's ribs.
White takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Leshley throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Leshley swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Leshley feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Whites jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Leshley closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Leshley has clasped his hands together around White's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Leshley decides to stand back up. Leshley steps back and let's White get back to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Leshley. No joy for White on that attempt.

and Leshley counters with a right hand to the body.

White is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Leshley wants to improve his position but White is controlling well.

White is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Leshley is aware though and is defending well.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Leshley counters with a three punch combo that has White backing up. White nods at Leshley to acknowledge the strikes.
White has his takedown stuffed
and Leshley counters with a nice uppercut.
Leshley lands a jab to White's midsection.
White wants to clinch
and Leshley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A looping hook to the body misses from Leshley. White does a little dance to reset his feet.
White closes the distance but Leshley moves to the side
and Leshley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
White avoids the body shot from Leshley.
White takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

White fails with the takedown
and Leshley counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bobby Leshley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fred White.
Leshley swings for the body but White moves out of range.
White takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.


The cut above Fred White's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
White will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Bobby Leshley is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Leshley turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Leshley remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Leshley has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well Leshley has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
