Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Newman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Oliveira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shawn Newman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Felipe Oliveira!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira fails with an attempt to clinch.
Newman throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Oliveira's head.
Oliveira throws a right hand that misses
and Newman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Oliveira throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Newman tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Oliveira is in Newman's guard.

Oliveira has hold of Newman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Newman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Oliveira is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Newman has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Newman!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Oliveira changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Newman tries to avoid it but Oliveira manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Newman to the ground. Newman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Newman is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Oliveira gets his way!

I would not like to be Newman right now.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Some bone on bone action there as Oliveira checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Oliveira looks up at the clock and then as Newman takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Oliveira smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Oliveira cracks Newman with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
