Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Santiago Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Finny Gussa!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gussa goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Martin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gussa is trying to defend but Martin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Martin is stalling here. Gussa is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Martin seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gussa has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Gussa in side control lands a decent elbow.

Gussa thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Gussa swings around for an armbar but Martin sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gussa's guard.
Gussa keeping moving, preventing Martin from controlling successfully.
Martin tries to free his leg and advance position but Gussa is retaining full guard.
Gussa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Martin wants to control from the top but Gussa keeps moving.
Gussa is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Santiago Martin has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Martin tries to close the distance and clinch but Gussa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Santiago Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Martin tries to close the distance and clinch but Gussa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Martin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gussa napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Martin is really struggling to control Gussa but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Martin decides to stand back up.

Martin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Martin decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Gussa fails with a takedown attempt.
Gussa is breathing heavily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Martin. Gussa does a little dance to reset his feet.

Martin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Gussa really wants to buck Martin off and get back to his feet.

Martin looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Martin is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Gussa just misses with a punch to the body.

Martin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Martin throws a right hand that Gussa ducks under and follows up with a left that Gussa also avoids with ease.

Martin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gussa keeping moving, preventing Martin from controlling successfully.
Gussa can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Martin controls the pace.
Gussa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

We're going to have a standup here because Santiago Martin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Martin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gussa was covering up waiting for the punch and Martin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
