PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pyyno Janis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lebron James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Janis kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Rubber Johnny. James has chosen Mama Said Knock You Out as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Pyyno Janis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lebron James!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Janis.
A low kick from Janis is predictable there
and James counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
James throws a leg kick that misses.
A low kick from Janis misses
and James counters with a nice leg kick.
Janis shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Janis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says James as he avoids it easily.
Janis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has James pinned against the cage. James gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pyyno Janis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James throws a leg kick but Janis sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Janis blocks a head kick by James.
Janis connects with an inside leg kick.
James throws a solid leg kick but Janis takes the impact on his shin and smiles at James.

Janis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. James is trying to defend but Janis finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Janis is looking to stall here but James recovers full guard.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Janis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Janis's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Janis wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
Janis working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of James's head.
Janis trying to control but James is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Janis stands and throws James's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Janis is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Janis tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Janis goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, James rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Janis's guard! Nice work there by James!
James looking to sit in guard and control but Janis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Janis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Janis postures up in James's guard and throws a big left but James blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Janis wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.
James keeping moving, preventing Janis from controlling successfully.
Janis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Janis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Pyyno Janis will probably get the nod.
That's time! Janis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Janis throws a leg kick
and James counters with a head kick. That will keep Janis thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
James chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Donk. James catches Janis right on the button with a cross.
James tries to close the distance and clinch but Janis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
James scores with a nice body kick.

Janis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Janis looking to control but instead James has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
James is refusing to be controlled, as Janis sits in half guard.
Janis moves nicely into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Janis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on James's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sloppy strikes there by Janis.
James trying to remain calm as Janis controls from the top position.
Janis connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused James some visible discomfort.


It looks like Lebron James has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Janis wants to control but James is keeping him busy.
Janis advances to full mount.

Janis goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now James is on top in guard.
Janis is adopting a defensive guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Janis wants to sweep here but James controlling him for the moment.

Lebron James has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A slapping leg kick lands for James.
A low kick from James is predictable there

and Janis counters with a shoot takedown. James fights it but they end up in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Janis trying to control but James is working from the bottom.
Janis looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
James looking to pass the guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Janis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Lebron James will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Lebron James's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


James misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Janis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
James preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Janis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Janis with a flurry of punches that miss.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Janis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Janis trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

James can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Janis controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Pyyno Janis.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! James crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Janis - the referee stops the clock and James gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Janis. James manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Janis lands with a kick to the ribs.
Janis tries to work over James's front leg with a kick but James checks it.
Janis finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from James lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Janis has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Janis and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Janis fails with a takedown attempt.

Janis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Janis stalling away here and it's allowed James to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Janis forces his way into half guard.
Janis is looking to advance position but James won't allow it.
Janis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Janis passes to side control.
Janis working the ground and pound from side control.
James taking punishment in the form of punches.


The cut above Lebron James's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Lebron James's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Pyyno Janis!
