Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Colon!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bear shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Bear loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Bear thows a big elbow that misses.
Colon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ground and pound from Colon.
Bear is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Colon wants to control but Bear is keeping him busy.
Colon wants to pass the guard but Bear is defending well.
Colon not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Colon is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Bear!

Colon gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Bear has closed the distance and engaged Colon in a clinch.
Colon has Bear pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bear manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Bear is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Bear scores with a nice hook to the head.
A head punch on the inside from Bear fails to land.
Bear lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Bear comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Colon wants a takedown but no success here.

Colon blocks an elbow strike.
Bear misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Colon.
Bear lands a good knee to the midsection. Colon won't want to take too many of those.

Bear's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Bear drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Bear stands up over Colon, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bear wants to stand but Colon is controlling his posture from full guard.

Colon working for a triangle but Bear defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Colon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Colon wants to finish this one by submission but Bear is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Colon.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bear tries to hold on but Colon postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Colon working the ground and pound effectively.

Colon working for a submission but Bear is keeping him at bay.

Colon working for a guillotine from mount but Bear is in no mood to give up.
Bear on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bear tries to get out of the position.

Colon get's back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bear rushes Colon and presses him up against the cage.
Bear lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Bear just misses with a elbow thrown towards Colon's brow.
Bear pushes Colon back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Bear lands with a short punch from the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Colon as the two fighters clinch.
Bear can't break the clinch.

Bear has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Colon uses from the top position.
Colon wants to control from the top but Bear keeps moving.
Colon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bear is keeping the position for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bear preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Colon is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bear is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bear has escaped and now he's on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Colon will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Colon misses with a combination

and Bear counters by moving into the clinch.
Bear with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Bear tightens his grip and picks Colon up, before dumping him to the ground. Colon manages to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bear throws and elbow that misses. Colon uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bear's guard. Nice move by Colon!

Colon has gone for a leg lock! Bear slips out almost immediately though and dives into Colon's guard.
Bear connects with a couple of short punches.
Bear postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Colon has his foot on Bear's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bear works his way back into a safe position though.
Bear stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Colon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bear lands a couple of decent looking shots.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bear trying to control but Colon is working from the bottom.
Colon looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Colon lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bear!

Colon wants to finish this one by submission but Bear is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Colon.
Colon sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Colon fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Colon connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Colon thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Colon postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Bear looks a forlorn figure.
Colon wants to control but instead Bear manages to regain half guard.
Colon trying to pass the guard but Bear defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Colon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Colon is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bear wants to stand back up but Colon manages to pass into side control.

Colon in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Bear is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Colon!
