Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julio Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Hill!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill misses with a left hand

so Sanchez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Sanchez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hill works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanchez trying to control but Hill is working from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Sanchez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Julio Sanchez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Hill lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

and Sanchez counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Sanchez thows a huge punch but Hill dodges it nicely.
Hill is looking to improve his position.

Sanchez is pressing down on Hill's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hill is holding on for now.
Sanchez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hill does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Sanchez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hill is just riding it out for now. Sanchez eventually gives up the hold.

Hill connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sanchez's hands.
Hill lands a nice shot to the body.

Sanchez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Julio Sanchez will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hill uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sanchez has time to react.

Sanchez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hill dives on top into guard.

Hill throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sanchez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Hill has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

and Hill counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julio Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hill tries to work over Sanchez's front leg with a kick but Sanchez checks it.
Sanchez takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hill throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hill lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sanchez backs up against the cage.

and Hill counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hill throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hill bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hill, as that shot connected.

Hill swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Hill fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Sanchez is out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bobby Hill showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Sanchez wants to get back to full guard but Hill has mounted him!

Hill fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sanchez manages to avoid it.

Sanchez sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Hill fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sanchez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bobby Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hill tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Sanchez is able to avoid easily.
