Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gregor Mendel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hacky Sack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendel comes into the arena with Lambada blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Sack's choice of entrance music: Sweet home alabama. Gregor Mendel could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Hacky Sack's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hacky Sack!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Sack misses
and Mendel counters with a straight right hand.
Mendel throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Sack counter with a right hand.
It looks like Gregor Mendel has been cut.
Sack throws the left hand but Mendel avoids the punch easily.
Sack throws an off balance right hand
enabling Mendel to counter with a crisp jab.
Sack swings widly with a right hand
and Mendel counters with a single leg into guard. Sack didn't expect that.
Mendel trying to control but Sack is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mendel is pushing down on Sack's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sack is fighting to maintain full guard but Mendel has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mendel tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sack knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Mendel is looking for a kimura here.
Sack is trying to stand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mendel in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendel wants to take a breather but Sack is having none of it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mendel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sack is just riding it out for now. Mendel eventually gives up the hold.
Sack won't allow Mendel to pass to mount.

Mendel throws a strike but Sack avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Sack looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mendel is one step ahead there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mendel is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sack is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sack has escaped and now he's on top!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mendel has his foot on Sack's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sack works his way back into a safe position though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Sack counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sack looks to land a body kick but Mendel moved away.

and Sack counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mendel drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Mendel is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sack is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mendel in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Sack cracks Mendel with a solid left hand.

Sack is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sack's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Sack wants to pass the guard but Mendel is keeping the position.
Mendel is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Mendel controls Sack momentarily but Sack frees himself.
Sack got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mendel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sack has managed to get both his arms back between Mendel's legs - danger averted.

and Mendel counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Mendel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Mendel's corner calls for a 1-2. Mendel obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Mendel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sack lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mendel at a distance.

Mendel throws a hook but Sack avoids it easily.
Sack tests Mendel's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mendel lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Mendel bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sack's head.
Sack throws a poor cross that misses
and Mendel counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mendel throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Mendel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
And that's the end of the fight!
Hacky Sack comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sack has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
