Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leonel Messi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Ras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Josh Ras is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Leonel Messi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Ras!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ras shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Messi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Messi seems a little lost for a moment, as Ras dominates the positioning.
Ras's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Josh Ras was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Messi lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Ras throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Messi was covering up waiting for the punch and Ras finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Messi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Ras passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Messi wants to get back to his feet.
Ras content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A lull in the action here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Josh Ras.

Ras shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Messi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ras is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Messi's shoulder. That is not cool.

Messi is in a horrible position here. Ras smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The referee warns Messi that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Ras changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Messi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee asks Ras politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ras prefers to stall for the moment though.
Ras has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Messi!
The referee warns Messi that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Josh Ras has got the better of the ground game so far.
Messi is bucking up trying to escape but Ras cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Ras content just to control the position here.

Let's hope that Ras has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Josh Ras.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Josh Ras hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Ras shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Messi's guard.

Ras is pushing down on Messi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Messi is fighting to maintain full guard but Ras has managed to sneak the leg through.

Ras is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Josh Ras wasn't active enough on the ground.

Ras looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ras content to control rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Ras showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Ras decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Well, if Ras is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Ras has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ras has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
BOOM! Ras connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Ras closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Messi's guard.

Ras is in close to Messi's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Messi can't keep his opponent in guard - Ras advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ras lands a nice short elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ras keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Ras is nestled in close to Messi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ras lands with a punch from half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ras landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Ras is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Josh Ras comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
