Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oppolla Doc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shogun Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doc comes to the cage accompanied by Heat - The Jesus and Mary Chain. Silva is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Kashmir. Oppolla Doc could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Shogun Silva's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Oppolla Doc!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shogun Silva!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Silva throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Doc throws a looping overhand right but Silva ducks down to avoid it.
A head kick misses from Silva.
Silva feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Doc's calf.
Silva misses with a leg kick
and Doc counters with a three punch combo that has Silva backing up. Silva nods at Doc to acknowledge the strikes.
Doc throws a lazy body kick
and Silva counters with a nice leg kick.
Doc tries to score with a low kick but Silva moves his leg out of the way.
Silva rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Doc counters with a left and a right that hurts Silva! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Doc jumps into full mount!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silva wants to hold on but Doc pushes him away.

Silva is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Silva defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Doc.

Doc goes for an armbar but Silva turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Silva.
Doc wants to stand but Silva is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Doc is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Doc trying to keep a closed guard but Silva is proving a slippery customer.
Doc is looking to stand up but Silva isn't so interested in that idea.

Doc working for a triangle but Silva defends it easily.
Silva won't allow Doc to get back to his feet.

Doc wants to get back to his feet but Silva passes into half guard.
Silva prevents Doc from standing back up.
Doc trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Silva controlling the pace.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Doc looks like he's trying to stand up.
Silva stalling.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Shogun Silva hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Doc takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Silva moves out of range of the strikes.
Doc throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oppolla Doc dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Doc looks to throw a body kick
and Silva counters with a nice body kick.
Silva lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Silva throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A lazy body kick from Doc
and Silva counters with a low kick, right behind Doc 's knee.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Doc looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

It looks like Oppolla Doc has been cut.
Silva bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Doc's head backwards.
Silva lands with an uppercut that bounces Doc off the cage and back into rage.
Shogun Silva seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva lands a front kick.
Silva cracks the inside of Doc's front leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Doc on the side of the head.

Oppolla Doc's cut is getting worse.
Doc tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Silva counters with a nice leg kick.
Silva dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Doc. That did some damage!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva lands a nice leg kick that just misses Doc's sensitive parts.
Silva drops Doc with a huge uppercut! Doc drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Silva is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
