Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Gurgel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Faishan Singsurat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Faishan Singsurat told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gurgel throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Singsurat stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Gurgel follows into mount!

Singsurat is rocked!

It looks like Faishan Singsurat has been cut.
Gurgel thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Singsurat is still in real trouble! Can Gurgel finish him?
Gurgel looking to control and managing it successfully.
Singsurat seems to have recovered his senses.
Gurgel thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Paulo Gurgel has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Gurgel throws a sloppy head kick and Singsurat moves out of range easily.
Gurgel lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Singsurat tries to clinch but Gurgel moves away

and Singsurat counters with a head kick. That will keep Gurgel thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Gurgel connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Singsurat to the floor! Gurgel dives in looking for the finish!
Singsurat looks gassed!
Gurgel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Gurgel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Singsurat is just riding it out for now. Gurgel eventually gives up the hold.
Gurgel content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Paulo Gurgel just wasn't active enough.
Singsurat tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Gurgel makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Singsurat really felt that one!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Singsurat takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Gurgel lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Singsurat head around and knocks him out cold! Gurgel hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Paulo Gurgel!
