Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hoppsan Barley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Zabuza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Hoppsan Barley!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky Zabuza!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barley tries to clinch up.
Zabuza throws a right and a left that Barley avoids nicely.
Barley throws a head kick but Zabuza moves out of range.
Barley misses with a right hand
letting Zabuza counter with a right hand.
Zabuza will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Good standup being displayed there by Zabuza as he connects with a hook.
A punch lands to the side of Barley 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Barley throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Zabuza counters with a nice uppercut.
Zabuza moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

and Zabuza cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Barley tries to land a front kick but Zabuza steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

and Zabuza makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Zabuza cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zabuza lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Zabuza.

letting Zabuza counter with a right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hoppsan Barley. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Zabuza shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Zabuza was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

and Zabuza counters with a three punch combo that has Barley backing up. Barley nods at Zabuza to acknowledge the strikes.
Zabuza's corner calls for a 1-2. Zabuza obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Barley doesn't manage to clinch there - Zabuza circles away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zabuza looking to sit in guard and control but Barley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Barley throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zabuza works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Zabuza is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Barley is controlling him.
Zabuza has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We're going to have a standup here because Hoppsan Barley wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Zabuza counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Zabuza shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Barley napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Zabuza seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Barley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Ricky Zabuza showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Barley looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Zabuza feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Barley is on top in guard.

Well Zabuza has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
