Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Machinator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brent Dawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machinator comes to the cage accompanied by Linkin Park- One Step Closer. Ryan Machinator has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dawson wants to clinch but Machinator slips to the side

and Machinator counters by moving into the clinch.
Dawson lands a body shot.
Machinator connects with a knee to the head.
Dawson tries to throw a body punch but Machinator avoids it by throwing Dawson back against the cage.
Dawson is trying to break the clinch but Machinator has him pressed against the cage.
Dawson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Machinator has him pressed against the cage.
Dawson is trying to force a seperation but Machinator has the dominant position.

Machinator jumps guard and drags Dawson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Dawson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dawson wants to get up but he can't break Machinator's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Machinator is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dawson drops back looking for a leg! Machinator is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Machinator manages to kick Dawson off! Dawson jumps back into Machinator's guard.

Dawson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Dawson has eaten all the pies!
Machinator lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dawson!

Machinator pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Machinator has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ryan Machinator wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Machinator manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dawson on his heels. He'll look to pass Dawson's guard now, I'm sure.

Machinator closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Dawson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Machinator connects with a decent elbow.

Machinator's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Machinator shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Machinator was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dawson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Machinator is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dawson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Machinator.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Machinator takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Dawson tries to get to full guard but Machinator has control of the leg.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Machinator connects with a nice short shot to Dawson's temple.

Dawson is desperately trying to improve his position but Machinator has a good base and remains in mount.

Machinator lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Dawson down.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Dawson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Machinator cracks Dawson with a big right hand but Dawson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Machinator stands up and beckons Dawson to his feet.

and Machinator counters with a nice uppercut.

Machinator feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Machinator throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dawson was covering up waiting for the punch and Machinator finishes the takedown easily into guard.
