Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fernando Torres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pasi Rantala!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torres blocks a low kick nicely.
Some wild striking there from Rantala.

Rantala has closed the distance and engaged Torres in a clinch.
Torres tries for a takedown but Rantala manages to get underhooks.

Rantala breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Torres walks forward, straight into a front kick from Rantala.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Torres.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rantala.
Torres takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.


It looks like Fernando Torres has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Torres is defended easily by Rantala.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fernando Torres. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rantala rushes Torres and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rantala pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rantala goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Torres takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Rantala has managed to clinch.
Torres goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rantala prevents it.
Torres is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rantala pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Rantala dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Rantala pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rantala throws a leg kick

and Torres counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Torres is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Rantala preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Torres wants to control from the top but Rantala keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Torres accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Torres advances position into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rantala wants to get back to his feet but Torres is dominant here and he's now got Rantala's back!

Rantala won't enjoy being in this position. Torres looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Rantala is tapping - it's over boys! Torres picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Fernando Torres!
