PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Casey Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javier Molina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carwin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Tool - Vicarious. The crowd seem to be enjoying Molina's choice of entrance music: What's the Difference. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Casey Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Javier Molina!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carwin with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Molina tries a head kick but it misses.
Molina takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Molina gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Carwin tries to free his leg and advance position but Molina is retaining full guard.

Carwin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carwin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Molina tries to bench press Carwin off him but Carwin keeps the position.

Carwin has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Molina!
Carwin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Molina tries to hold on but Carwin pushes him away.

Carwin is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Carwin blocks a leg kick.
Molina closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Left hook, right uppercut from Carwin.
Molina thows a left - swing and a miss!
Molina takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Molina takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Carwin catches Molina with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
No joy there for Carwin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carwin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Molina swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Casey Carwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carwin lands with a straight right. Molina didn't see that one coming.
Carwin lands a leg kick that knocks Molina off balance momentarily.
Molina looks gassed!
Carwin scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Carwin jabs at Molina's body.
Carwin misses with a double jab
and Molina counters with a good low kick that Carwin was not able to check.
Molina takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Carwin jabs Molina to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Carwin clobbers Molina with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Carwin scores with a shot to the body.
Carwin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Carwin scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
A shot to the liver by Carwin. Beautiful body shot.
Donk. Carwin catches Molina right on the button with a cross.
Molina is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Carwin.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Carwin, as that shot connected.
Carwin connects with a nice looking jab.
Carwin scores with a jab to the body.
Molina takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Carwin scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Nice uppercut lands for Carwin. That snapped Molina's head back.
Carwin fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Carwin darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Carwin lands a nice hook to Molina's body. Molina takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Carwin lands with a right hand.
Javier Molina is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Carwin lands a body shot.
Carwin scores with a jab to the jaw.
Carwin lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Molina looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Molina is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Carwin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Carwin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Molina looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Carwin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Molina's half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Casey Carwin dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Carwin jabs Molina to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Casey Carwin is winning the standup battle so far.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Molina enables Carwin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Molina manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Molina can't keep his opponent in guard - Carwin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Carwin is trying for a kimura here. Molina looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Carwin wins by kimura!
