PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Khalid Abdullah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stefan Roosmalen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Khalid Abdullah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stefan Roosmalen!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roosmalen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Abdullah.
Abdullah swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Roosmalen counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Abdullah is trying to control but can't.
Abdullah avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Roosmalen.
Roosmalen prevents Abdullah from improving his position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Roosmalen cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Abdullah avoids a series of strikes thrown by Roosmalen.
Roosmalen looking to control but Abdullah is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Roosmalen looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Roosmalen lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Abdullah hang on?

Roosmalen might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Abdullah kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Roosmalen looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Roosmalen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Roosmalen prevents Abdullah from getting the reversal.
Abdullah is squirming around, avoiding Roosmalen's attempts to control the action.
Abdullah tries to lock up and control but Roosmalen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Abdullah shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Abdullah is looking to clinch but Roosmalen is avoiding it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Roosmalen can do anything to dispel that myth.

Stefan Roosmalen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Abdullah's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Abdullah takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Roosmalen throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Roosmalen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Abdullah is one step ahead there.

Roosmalen can't keep his opponent in guard - Abdullah advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Abdullah seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Roosmalen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Abdullah wants to take a breather but Roosmalen is having none of it.

Abdullah is pressing down on Roosmalen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Roosmalen is holding on for now.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Abdullah lands a nice short elbow.
Roosmalen is looking to improve his position.
Abdullah is trying to control the action in half guard but Roosmalen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Khalid Abdullah just wasn't active enough.

and Roosmalen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Abdullah wants to stand and escape but Roosmalen is having none of it.
Roosmalen stands up over Abdullah, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Roosmalen trying to control the position from guard on top but Abdullah is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Abdullah is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Stefan Roosmalen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Roosmalen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
