The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valverde drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Wylde tries to bench press Valverde off him but Valverde keeps the position.

Valverde tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Wylde regains half guard.
Wylde slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Valverde stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wylde swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wylde has a closed guard, preventing Valverde from standing up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Valverde closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Valverde is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Valverde is breathing heavily.
Valverde tries to pass to full mount but Wylde defends it.
Valverde is thwarting Wylde's attempts to control the position.
