These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nova misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Nova looks for a takedown but Ferreira sprawls well.
Ferreira throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nova misses with a takedown attempt - Ferreira sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Antonio Ferreira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Nova.
A head kick by Nova misses

and Ferreira counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Nova's guard now.

Nova had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ferreira is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nova Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ferreira's back instead.
Ferreira controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Nova keeps control of the position as Ferreira tries to break free.
Nova throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Ferreira!

Nova is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Ferreira has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Nova has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Ferreira taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Nova doesn't care though - he's delighted!
