PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anti Hero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Beckring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hero comes to the cage accompanied by Paul Oakenfold - Ready Steady Go. Beckring is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Where Is My Mind. Anti Hero had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anti Hero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Beckring!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hero tries to clinch up.
Beckring takes a swing at Hero's ribcage but misses.
Beckring throws a lazy right hand but Hero sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hero throws the kick towards the body but Beckring avoids it.
Hero slips a jab from Beckring.
Hero misses with a leg kick
and Beckring counters with a straight right hand.
Beckring looks to score with a jab to the body but Hero is just out of range.
Beckring is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Hero.
Jim Beckring seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beckring tries a low kick but Hero avoids it.
Horrible takedown by Beckring or perhaps it was just good defense by Hero which made him look bad.
Beckring thuds his right hand into Hero's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Beckring decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Beckring looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Beckring looks to land a strike but Hero avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Beckring pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hero is keeping the position for now.

Hero lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Beckring!
Beckring tries to hold on but Hero postures up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Beckring is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hero avoids the attempt from Beckring to control.
Hero controlling the position easily from mount.

Beckring tries to hold on but Hero pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hero tries to push Beckring's head away but Beckring is holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jim Beckring wasn't active enough on the ground.
Hero scores with a decent looking hook.
Beckring shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hero defends it nicely.
Beckring looks to land a left hand but Hero moved out of range nicely.
Hero pivots, looking for a leg kick but Beckring is out of range and Hero settles back down.
Beckring misses with a straight left.
Hero defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Beckring.
Anti Hero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Beckring.
A jab lands there for Hero.
Beckring throws a body punch but Hero moves out of range.
A jab from Hero finds it's way through Beckring's defenses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anti Hero dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Beckring lands with a nice body punch.
Hero misses with a looping left.
Beckring looks to score with a jab to the body but Hero is just out of range.

Hero tries to clinch there but Beckring circles away.

and Hero counters by moving into the clinch.

Hero pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Beckring shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hero pinned against the cage. Hero gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hero throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Beckring throws a jab but it's blocked by Hero.
Beckring takes one to the chin there.
Nice uppercut there from Beckring.

Beckring gets tackled into the cage by Hero. Hero maintains the clinch.
Hero misses with some punches.
Beckring stalling in the clinch.
Hero wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
A short right from Hero.
Hero working aggressively here.
Hero lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Hero blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hero tries to circle away but Beckring has him pinned against the cage.

Hero misses with a hook from the clinch.
Beckring is trying to push Hero away but Hero has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Hero misses with the head strike.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Hero.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hero.
Beckring has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hero is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Anti Hero has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Beckring.

Hero throws a head punch that misses.
Beckring can't find room to land a body shot as Hero controls the action.

Hero's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Beckring moves away from the strike by Hero.
Beckring lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hero circles away quickly and effectively.
Beckring fails to land the takedown.
Beckring paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Hero avoids a punch combination nicely.
Beckring misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hero.
Hero attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Hero throws a sloppy body shot
and Beckring counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Beckring tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hero swivels and escapes.
Beckring throws a jab but it's blocked by Hero.
Beckring bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hero's head.

and Hero counters with a straight right hand.

Beckring throws a lazy right hand but Hero sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Beckring misses with a shot to the body
and Hero counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Beckring thinking.
Hero misses the shot to the body.

Beckring feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Beckring is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hero is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hero has escaped and now he's on top!
Beckring has control of Hero's left arm, preventing Hero from doing any damage.

Beckring working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hero doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hero manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hero decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Hero rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Beckring counters with a nice uppercut.
Beckring moves out of range of the body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beckring throws a shot to the body.
Hero keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Beckring misses with a wild body shot.
Beckring's corner calls for a 1-2. Beckring obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Beckring misses with a straight right.
Hero is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hero.
Hero lands with an uppercut that bounces Beckring off the cage and back into rage.
Hero on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Beckring fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hero manages to avoid it.
Hero moves out of range of the strikes.

Beckring drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Beckring throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Hero will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hero not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Beckring in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Beckring lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Beckring looking to sit in guard and control but Hero gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hero has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Beckring is proving hard to escape from.
Beckring manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hero is squirming around, avoiding Beckring's attempts to control the action.
Beckring landing punches.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beckring postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hero looks a forlorn figure.

It looks like Anti Hero has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hero gets back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Beckring wants to control but Hero is keeping him busy.
Beckring thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hero's head.
Jim Beckring has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hero is looking to control Beckring's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hero avoid being mounted?

Jim Beckring has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hero is defending against the submission attempts here by Beckring.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Jim Beckring comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hero has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
