PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fungus Mcanus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Callahan comes to the ring accompanied by Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Mcanus is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Gubben i Lådan. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thomas Callahan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Fungus Mcanus!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcanus throws a series of punches but Callahan moves out of range.
Callahan swings for the body but Mcanus moves out of range.
Mcanus throws a left and a right that both miss
and Callahan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mcanus misses with a low kick.
Callahan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mcanus sprawls well. Mcanus wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Callahan gets slowly back to his feet.
Mcanus throws a combination that misses
and Callahan counters with a nice low kick that buckles Mcanus's knee momentarily.

It looks like Fungus Mcanus has been cut.

Callahan looking to control but Mcanus is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That has opened up Fungus Mcanus's cut even more.

Callahan moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mcanus has worked his arm free - good work by Mcanus!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Callahan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mcanus knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mcanus can do anything to dispel that myth.

Callahan creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mcanus sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Mcanus parries the strikes from Callahan easily there. Callahan is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mcanus to escape.

Callahan postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Callahan has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Callahan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mcanus sees it coming and avoids it easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Fungus Mcanus's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Callahan throws a leg kick which misses Mcanus's front leg but catches the back leg as Mcanus tries to avoid it.

Callahan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Mcanus walks into a stiff left hand from Callahan.
Mcanus with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Callahan to score with a decent uppercut.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Fungus Mcanus's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
