Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jigoro Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nigel Wigum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nigel Wigum is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wigum is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Wigum misses with an attempted mid kick.
Kane stuffs the takedown attempt from Wigum. Wigum gets slowly back to his feet.
Wigum shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kane as he avoids it easily.
Nice sprawl there from Kane as Wigum shoots in.
Jigoro Kane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nigel Wigum.
Kane throws a body punch but Wigum moves out of range.

Kane decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wigum is refusing to be controlled, as Kane sits in half guard.
Wigum slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Wigum bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kane's guard.
Kane controls Wigum momentarily but Wigum frees himself.

Wigum must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kane lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Wigum!

Kane goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Wigum turns into him and now he's in Kane's guard.

Wigum wanted to stand there but Kane had control of the position.

Wigum is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Wigum gets to his feet. Kane looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Kane closes the distance and clinches.

Kane breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Wigum tries to keep at a distance but Kane has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kane lands a left hand that snaps the head of Wigum backwards.
Wigum wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Wigum tries to stall but Kane uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Kane pulls guard.
Wigum postures up.

Wigum wants to pass the guard but Kane is keeping the position.

Kane has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wigum can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wigum is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Kane has a closed guard, preventing Wigum from standing up.

Kane working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wigum doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wigum manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Wigum decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Kane counters with a head kick that drops Wigum - he's looking to finish, following his stunned foe to the ground!

Wigum is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kane wants to take a breather but Wigum is having none of it.
Wigum is still on wobbly legs! Can Kane finish him?

Kane is tying to control. Wigum wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Wigum throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Kane wants to take a breather but Wigum is having none of it.
Kane drops an elbow to the side of Wigum's head.

Kane is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kane passes to side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Wigum seems to have recovered his senses.
Wigum is trying to control Kane's posture but Kane avoids it.

That's time! Kane's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Kane counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Wigum shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kane as he jumps to the side.

Kane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wigum swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kane keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Wigum's head.

Kane has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kane drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wigum dives on top into guard.
