The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi takes a head kick and keeps coming.

It looks like Masakatsu Gomi has been cut.

Gomi has closed the distance and engaged Chase in a clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Chase just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gomi's brow.

Gomi blocks a body shot from Chase.
Gomi blocking some punches.
Chase manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Chase breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gomi digs a good hook to Chase's body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Chase enables Gomi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Chase manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Vincent Chase.
Chase throws a front kick aimed at Gomi's knee but Gomi avoids it well.
Gomi throws a series of strikes that have Chase backpedaling.

Gomi closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chase did well to prevent Gomi getting side control.
Chase has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gomi is working away from the top position though.
Gomi is keen to just control but Chase is a slippery customer.
Gomi is taking a breather. Chase says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Chase is trying to stand up here but Gomi is controlling him well.
Gomi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chase does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Chase is looking for a sweep. Gomi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Chase throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Chase throws a right and a left that Gomi avoids nicely.
Chase on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Chase moves into the clinch.
Gomi stalling.
Chase trying to stall but Gomi improves his position.
Chase misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Gomi goes for a takedown attempt but Chase pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Gomi counters with a good, hard body kick but Chase shrugs it off.

and Gomi counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Gomi.
Chase misses with a hook to the ribs.

Gomi jumps guard.
Chase postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Chase got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gomi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chase has managed to get both his arms back between Gomi's legs - danger averted.
Chase pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gomi is keeping the position for now.

Gomi is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Chase frees his head nicely. Oh but Gomi has switched to an armbar! Chase is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
