Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Katto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Junior Dos Melanos!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dos Melanos drives through with a takedown into guard.
Katto looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dos Melanos can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dos Melanos wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Dos Melanos is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Katto can't fight it off and eventually Dos Melanos manages to take the fight to the floor. Katto looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Dos Melanos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Katto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dos Melanos seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Katto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dos Melanos has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Katto has managed to get both his arms back between Dos Melanos's legs - danger averted.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dos Melanos is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Katto wants to control from the top but Dos Melanos keeps moving.
Katto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dos Melanos swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dos Melanos holds on and takes a little breather.

We're going to have a standup here because Jon Katto wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Katto gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dos Melanos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Katto really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Katto is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dos Melanos is aware though and is defending well.

Katto wants to improve his position but instead Dos Melanos has moved into half guard.
Katto is trying to control but can't.

Junior Dos Melanos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Katto is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Dos Melanos is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well Dos Melanos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
