Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franklyn Vass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mat Damien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Franklyn Vass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mat Damien!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vass shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Damien counters with a nice uppercut.
Damien looks to clinch
and Vass counters by moving into the clinch.
Damien gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Vass regains guard.
Vass keeping moving, preventing Damien from controlling successfully.
Vass knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Damien on the ground.
Damien showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Damien tries to free his leg and advance position but Vass is retaining full guard.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Mat Damien hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Damien closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Vass did well to prevent Damien getting side control.

Damien wants to pass to mount but Vass is defending the position.
Damien seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vass does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Vass trying to hold on to Damien's head to control him but Damien postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vass avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Damien.
Vass tries to roll over but Damien keeps him under control.
Vass is refusing to be controlled, as Damien sits in half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Damien is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Damien slips a nice elbow through Vass's hands, connecting with Vass's forehead.
Damien stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
A head kick misses from Damien.
Vass clinches with his opponent.
Vass tries to break the clinch but Damien is controlling the position.
Damien missing with knees to the body.
Damien throws a knee to the head but misses.
Vass has Damien pressed against the cage.
Damien successfully pulls guard.
Vass is stalling in the full guard.
Damien is trying to control the position but Vass postures up.

Vass trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Vass is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Vass could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Franklyn Vass.
Damien darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Damien pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Damien tries to close the distance and clinch but Vass swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Damien shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vass is trying to defend but Damien finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Vass is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Vass is breathing heavily.

Damien is pushing down on Vass's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vass is fighting to maintain full guard but Damien has managed to sneak the leg through.

Vass might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Damien is looking for a triangle but Vass pushes his legs off easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Damien wants to get up but he can't break Vass's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Damien sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vass's guard.
Damien wants to free his trapped foot but Vass is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Vass tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Vass is controlling Damien's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Vass is staying active underneath Damien, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Damien is pressing down on Vass's thigh, looking to free his foot. Vass is holding on for now.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mat Damien wasn't active enough on the ground.

and Damien counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Damien.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mat Damien showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Damien shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vass's guard.
Vass wants to stand but Damien is controlling the position.
Damien gets to his feet. Vass looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Damien rushes Vass and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Damien has picked Vass up - he's going for a ride! Damien dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Damien is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vass sees it coming and defends easily.
Damien drops an elbow to the side of Vass's head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Vass pushes Damien off and gets back to his feet.
Vass gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Damien counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Vass lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Damien!
Damien is trying desperately to improve position.
Damien tries to hold on but Vass postures up.
Damien is in all sorts of trouble here.
Damien is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Vass controlling his opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Damien can do anything to dispel that myth.
Damien is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Damien regains half guard.
Damien gets full guard.
Vass prevents Damien from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Damien working a defensive guard here.
Vass wants to control from the top but Damien keeps moving.
Damien is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Damien has momentary wrist control but Vass slips an elbow through the middle.

Damien is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Damien is wriggling around but Vass manages to pass to half guard.
Vass takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Damien is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Vass looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Damien with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Franklyn Vass has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mat Damien is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vass connects with a nice short shot to Damien's temple.
And that's the end of the fight!
Mat Damien comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Damien has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
