Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Gibson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Chambers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Chambers's choice of entrance music: Ain't No Rest for the Wicked. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Chambers!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chambers misses with a left hand
and Gibson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gibson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chambers looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Gibson misses the shot to the body.
Gibson just misses with a punch to the body.
John Chambers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gibson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gibson cracks Chambers with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Gibson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chambers was covering up waiting for the punch and Gibson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Chambers preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Gibson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Chambers looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Chambers working for a triangle but Gibson defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gibson scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gibson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Chambers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gibson is one step ahead there.
Gibson trying to control the position from guard on top but Chambers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gibson drops back looking for a leg! Chambers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chambers manages to kick Gibson off! Gibson jumps back into Chambers's guard.
Chambers working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gibson.

Chambers looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chambers keeping full guard, as Gibson tries to pass.
Gibson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gibson tries to free his leg and advance position but Chambers is retaining full guard.

Chambers is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Chambers keeping moving, preventing Gibson from controlling successfully.

Chambers looking for a guillotine here but Gibson defends easily.
Gibson wants to control from the top but Chambers keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gibson postures up.

Chambers had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gibson defends it easily.
Gibson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Chambers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gibson stands up over Chambers, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Gibson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Chambers's head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Gibson distracts Chambers with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Chambers is looking for a triangle but Gibson pushes his legs off easily.
Gibson passes Chambers's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Gibson is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Chambers is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Scott Gibson!
