PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Howard Quack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Hautz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Quack might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Duck Song. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hunter Hautz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Howard Quack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hunter Hautz!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quack throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Quack throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Hautz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Quack sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Quack trying to control but Hautz postures up.
Hautz is pressing down on Quack's thigh, looking to free his foot. Quack is holding on for now.
Quack has a hand on Hautz's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hautz takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quack is wriggling around trying to escape.
Quack manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Quack is trying to maintain the position but Hautz is very close to passing his half guard.
Quack trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Quack regains half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Quack regains full guard. Nicely done.
Quack striking off his back but it's not causing Hautz any problems.
Quack working a defensive guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hautz stopping the sweep attempt from Quack.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hautz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Quack looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Quack looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Quack!
Hautz prevents Quack from moving into mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Quack wants to control but Hautz is keeping him busy.
Quack working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Quack postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Howard Quack will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Hautz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Quack tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hautz is in Quack's guard.
Quack throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hautz postures up.

Quack is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hautz defends well.
Hautz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quack controls Hautz momentarily but Hautz frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Howard Quack wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Quack misses with an uppercut. Hautz saw that one coming.
Hautz uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Quack.

Hautz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quack gets full guard.
Hautz is breathing heavily.
Hautz looking to sit in guard and control but Quack gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Quack really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Quack trying to control the position from guard on top but Hautz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Quack stands and throws Hautz's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Quack throws an elbow but Hautz slips to the side and avoids it well.
Quack trying to control the position but Hautz is working away.
Quack taking a breather here.
Quack wants to control but Hautz is keeping him busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Quack goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hautz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Quack's guard! Nice work there by Hautz!
Hautz won't allow Quack to sweep him here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Hautz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Quack looks for the body kick but Hautz saw that one coming.

Quack tries to sprawl but Hautz drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Quack trying to hold on to Hautz's head to control him but Hautz postures up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Quack looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quack is pressing down on Hautz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Hautz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hautz has gone for a leg lock! Quack slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hautz's guard.
Hautz keeping moving, preventing Quack from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Quack is really struggling to control Hautz but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Quack throwing strikes from guard but Hautz blocks nicely.
Quack trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Quack slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Quack wants to control but Hautz is keeping him busy.
Quack will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hautz tries to bench press Quack off him but Quack keeps the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Quack wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hautz keeps working.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

We're going to have a standup here because Howard Quack wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Quack throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Howard Quack.
I think Quack has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
