The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russell throws a body kick that misses.

Rompevsky manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Russell manages to get himself to full guard.
Rompevsky trying to control but Russell is working from the bottom.
Rompevsky won't allow Russell to get back to his feet.
Russell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rompevsky on the ground.

Rompevsky sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Russell's guard.

Rompevsky is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rompevsky tries to pass the half guard into mount. Russell knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Russell is refusing to be controlled, as Rompevsky sits in half guard.

Russell wants to improve his position but Rompevsky is controlling well.
Rompevsky moves nicely into side control.
Rompevsky is looking to take a break and control but Russell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rompevsky tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rompevsky has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Rompevsky has hold of Russell's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Russell tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Rompevsky cranks the arm and Russell screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Russell, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
